Why do pests keep coming back?

Sometimes the pest problem is really a house problem.

Sprays and bait can address the pests that are present today. But if water is getting into the building, wood is deteriorating, or there is an opening to the outside, the conditions that invite pests may still be there.

Moisture intrusion

Failed flashing, roof details, doors, windows, trim, and other exterior transitions can let water reach areas you rarely see.

Damaged or decayed wood

Persistent moisture can soften and decay wood, creating sheltered areas and making it easier for insects or rodents to enter.

Exterior openings

Gaps around doors, trim, soffits, fascia, roof penetrations, and other transitions can become direct access points.

REAL CONDITIONS FOUND ON REAL HOMES

This is the kind of damage that can hide behind finished surfaces.

These are actual repair photos—not stock images. The goal of the inspection is to identify visible warning signs before you keep paying to treat symptoms without addressing the source.

  • Visible signs of moisture intrusion in accessible areas

What this is not

This is not pest extermination, mold testing, a home inspection, or destructive testing. I’m looking specifically for visible building-envelope and carpentry issues that may be allowing moisture or pests into the home.

If I see something outside my scope, I’ll tell you rather than pretend to be the specialist you need.

Where are you seeing pests, moisture, soft wood, or recurring trouble?
